Within, On and Between presents a collaborative soundscape informed by Waterloo Street. This sonic narrative is an attempt to physicalize the concept of third space, where tension and transformation occurs as one hears and sees. A collaborative encounter of sounds serves as an instrument for mapping Waterloo Street, experiencing the multicultural fabric that the space is known for.
The sound sculpture reverberates its surface, pulsating and warping viewers' reflections as vibrations grow ominously intense. The visceral experience is physical and unsettling, however periodically receding into a calm, stable silence. It evokes a sense of unpredictability and instability, partly inspired by the liminality of space.

The audio that accompanies our multimedia installation is manipulated in a way that represents Waterloo Street's third space to envision its tension and transformation.
Waterloo Street is separated into two sides, one where Singapore Art Museum (SAM) resides and the other where Fu Lu Shou Complex is. While the SAM area is full of changes in its infrastructure with modern commercial high-rise buildings co-existing with heritage sites, the area where Fu Lu Shou Complex is does not prioritize the constant change and progression Singapore is adamant on fulfilling. This side of Waterloo Street is instead a place where one can slow their perception of time as we see a lot of heritage sites being preserved.
