this is all i have left

Title: this is all i have left

Year: 2025

Medium: Video projection on fabric

Dimensions: Varied dimensions

A cartographic textile installation that explores the fragility of memory in relation to my Chinese heritage. It is a bricolage comprising of a video projection on textile to capture how memory works; that memory is layered and how some memories are clearer while others only come in glimpses. Through the use of psycho-geographic mapping, the work depicts 4 cities that are more personal to me: London, Singapore, Jakarta, and Bandung. I made 4 collages of photos, each particular to a city, conforming to the urban form of each city. I used the materiality of fabric, of stitching, layering, and tearing to portray the disconnection between myself and my Chinese heritage and familial history.
